The goal of this course is to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to think critically and express opinions in argumentative discourse. The readings are mainly articles on contemporary social issues from Japanese newspapers, magazines, and other academic texts as sources for discussions. Students are required to write essays on topics related to the reading materials and deliver presentations. The course also aims to further cultivate the ability to study Japanese independently. Prerequisites: J100B, or consent of instructor.
