The goal of this course is to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to foster critical thinking and the ability to express opinions in argumentative discourse. The primary readings consist of articles on social issues from Japanese newspapers, magazines, and professional books as sources of discussions. Students are required to write essays on topics related to the reading materials and deliver presentations. The course also aims to further cultivate the ability to study Japanese independently. Prerequisites: J100B, or consent of instructor.
